Winfield Township Supervisor Nicole Prater
A Unique Leader with a Veteran perspective.
Introduction
Hello! I am Nicole Prater and I am running for Winfield Township Supervisor on the April 6th election.
I was appointed to the position of Supervisor on December 4, 2020 and look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Township for the next 4 years.
I have lived in Warrenville for over 20 years.
I am happily married and have an infant son, as well as two Siberian Huskies.
I graduated from Wheaton Warrenville South High School in 2000, received my Associates Degree from College of DuPge in 2002, and completed a Bachelors of Arts from Northern Illinois University in 2005.
I am a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served one tour in Middle East as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I am a Life Member of the Warrenville VFW, a
Member of the Warrenville American Legion and have been a Warrenville Park District Board member from April 2015 to December 2020, during which time I also served as President (list any other position you held). I am a Precinct Committeeman for the Winfield Township.
For the last three years, I was the Winfield Township Clerk prior to being appointed the Winfield Township Supervisor.
I look forward to continuing to serving our community to the fullest with your vote on April 6th to continue as your Winfield Township Supervisor.
What do you see is the major role of Township Government?
There are three purposed for Township government.
1 Assessing Property
2 Maintaining Roads
3 General Assistance
If elected, what are your goals or the initiatives you would like to pursue?
I am eager to continue to serve the citizens of Winfield Township. Whether it is by offering information sessions for citizens to learn of the roles and services of the Township and its Officials or by working with other forms of government to create inter-governmental agreements from which the Township citizens can benefit.
I am passionate about saving tax dollars. When I served as Township Clerk, I made this promise and I have kept it. The Township Board has reduced its levy not once, but TWICE in the last 4 years savings citizens _____. Additionally, we have recemtly REDUCED our own pay as elected officials. As a Township Board,, we have a balanced budget and are investigating a potential possible tax abatement for our Winfield Township Constituents. Promises made and promises kept.
I intend to continue this trend and am deeply
Committed to working for the people of Winfield Township.
How can communication with constituents be increased as to service and need of Township Government?
Working on social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to educate the community on what the Township is working on. This is a good start. We are also updating our website on a regular basis with new topics and services the township has to offer, such as…...
Closing statement:
In closing, I am a hard-working professional whose core values are Integrity First, Service before Self and Excellence in Everything I do. I look forward to continuing to serve our Township communities to the fullest... With your vote on April 6th for Nicole Prater for Winfield Township Supervisor.
Thank you and stay safe and healthy!

Winfield Township Trustees
Trustee Barbara Alekna
March 2021
Barbara Bernacki Alekna has lived in Winfield Township since 1993.
She is the only Trustee in Township history that represents Aurora. Why is this important? Because many residents of Aurora don’t take advantage of the benefits the Township has to offer.
We offer:
General Assistance which provides a flat grant for individuals who do not qualify for assistance from the State or federal government.
Emergency Assistance is an optional program designed to assist Township residents in meeting basic needs such as food, rent, utilities, household supplies, and personal hygiene items. This is available every 12-months until the lifetime limit of 5 times has been met.
In addition we have a senior bus service.
Barbara and her husband Jon raised two successful daughters who have grown into contributing members of society.
Along with the other members of the Board, Barbara voted to reduce the levy, thus reducing your taxes.
Please vote to retain Barbara Bernacki Alekna in order to keep improving Winfield Township while keeping taxes low.
Don Voelz is the longest serving Township Trustee. Donny and his wife, and two daughters, live in West Chicago.

Zachary Halley has been a Winfield Township Resident his entire life. He grew up in Warrenville and graduated in 2009 from Wheaton Warrenville South High School. He has a B.S. degree in criminal justice and criminology from Arizona State University. A little bit about his career background he worked for a company called Automatic Data Processing dealing with small businesses, dealing with payroll, taxes and annual filings. He is part-owner in a small business, which in his elected position allows him to understand budgeting and meeting the needs of the business itself to make sure that they keep costs down.
He lives in Unincorporated West Chicago with his Wife Sarah who is a proud Registered Nurse and their one-year-old son Maverick. For the last four years it has been his honor to serve the people of Winfield Township as one of the four elected trustees.
